A Design Journey with Pentagon Design

From the very beginning, our ambition for Woody was clear: to create a sparkling water maker that would stand out not only through its performance but through its design and use of renewable materials. To bring that vision to life, we partnered with the award-winning Finnish design agency Pentagon Design. Together, we set out to rethink what a home carbonation device could be.

The collaboration focused on challenging the norms of the category — moving away from glossy, plastic-dominated products toward something more tactile, natural and enduring. Consumer research in Finland and France revealed that many users wanted an appliance they could proudly keep on display, one that blended seamlessly into the modern kitchen rather than standing out as a gadget. This insight shaped every design decision that followed.

The result of that process was a sparkling water maker crafted from a unique wood-based composite material made using side streams from the forest industry. Instead of relying on fossil-based plastics, Woody’s body is made almost entirely from renewable resources, giving each unit its own subtle texture and warm, matte finish. The speckled surface — a visible reminder of its natural origins — makes every Woody distinct. The collaboration between Mysoda and Pentagon Design resulted in a product that feels as good to the touch as it looks on the counter, and one that has received international recognition, including the Red Dot Product Design Award.

What Makes Woody Special

Every aspect of Woody’s design was crafted with purpose. Its wood composite housing not only seamlessly incorporates renewable materials but also gives the product a calm, natural aesthetic that fits beautifully into any kitchen. Designed in Finland, Woody carries the essence of Nordic simplicity and quality. It is compact in size, quiet in use, and easy to operate — with a smooth quick-lock mechanism for the water bottles that makes carbonation intuitive and enjoyable.

Beyond its thoughtful materials and design, Woody represents a shift in how we think about everyday products.
