The most eco-friendly way to enjoy your sparkling water
Our goal is to help you create fizzy moments that don’t recklessly tax the planet’s resources. That’s why we chose to produce sparkling water makers from sustainable wood composite instead of fossil-based plastic. We constantly improve our products and strive for a smaller carbon footprint. We have even replaced the traditional plastic caps of our CO2 cylinders with ones made of sugarcane.
All Mysoda sparkling water makers are made from either renewable wood composite or durable aluminium. We thereby offer an alternative to existing sparkling water makers on the market, which are largely made from fossil-based plastics.
The wood composite used in our sparkling water makers is just as strong as fossil-based plastic but doesn’t harm the planet. It’s 60% polypropylene (made of crude tall oil) and 40% wood fibre. Both of these raw materials are byproducts of sawmill and pulp industries, hence no further forests must be cut down to produce our sparkling water makers.
Sustainable design
The space in almost every kitchen is so limited that the ugliest devices simply end up hidden away in a cupboard or even get thrown away. We didn’t want to make just sparkling water makers, but a true centrepiece for your kitchen that will never go out of style. Mysoda sparkling water makers come in different shapes, colours and materials - all appealing with timeless, simplistic Nordic design. We want to help you find exactly the right fit for your kitchen and personal taste. Because only if you find your perfect match, our sparkling water maker is going to be your trusted companion for years to come, saving resources and emissions all along the way.
Eco-friendly bubbles
Not all bubbles are equal! As harmless as bubbles might sound, they can still tax our planet’s resources. We make guilt-free bubbles for happier moments. Mysoda CO2 cylinders (gas bottles for sparkling water makers) only contain gas that has been carefully filtered, cleansed and turned into the cleanest possible form of CO2! We fill the cylinders at our own factories in Finland and France as well as at our partners’ facilities in German using exclusively environmentally friendly wind and solar power.
Less plastic and transportation
Making your own sparkling water at home reduces both plastic waste and transport emissions. Did you know that the amount of sparkling water that can be made from a single CO2 cylinder equals up to 40 1.5L single-use plastic bottles of ready-made sparkling beverages?

Introducing Bio-CO2
CO2 from a biogenic process
With the introduction of Mysoda Bio-CO2 this new product will gradually replace our existing gas products. Once the transition is complete, Mysoda will excllusively sell biogenic gas products. For you as a customer this means that you continue to enjoy the same high-quality CO2 but extracted from a process that isn't based on fossil raw materials. Bio-CO2 stems from a natural cycle of CO2 from the atmosphere being stored in biomass and released again. No more CO2 is released into than was previously stored during plant growth, making Bio-CO2 a great alternative to traditional CO2 products for sparkling water makers on the market.
The idea sparked when we decided to create a new range of sparkling water makers. Stunning looks was of course one of the targets of our development project but just as importantly, we wanted to improve our carbon handprint. In fact, we decided that Mysoda should become a frontrunner in the manufacture of more sustainable household appliances. Home carbonation, as a category, has many eco-friendly benefits but we thought we needed to do something more. After evaluating different materials, wood-based composite was clearly the best option for Mysoda.
No trees to be harvested
There are different kinds of wood composites on the market. Let’s talk about the one we use: UPM Formi EcoAce made by UPM – The Biofore Company. This wood composite is produced by utilising the residues of the sawmill and pulp industries. Residues mean that no trees need to be harvested to produce the material.
Formi EcoAce has two main components, approximately 60% is crude tall oil-based bioplastic which is a side product of the pulp making process, roughly 40% is wood chips collected from the wood processing industry. Wood composite is basically a combination of these two completely renewable ingredients.
A more sustainable alternative
Unlike crop-based biomaterials, this wood composite doesn’t harm the food-production chain. The wood used at the beginning of the production chain always comes from sustainably managed forests.
These are the basics of UPM Formi EcoAce wood composite. We think it is an ideal replacement for fossil-based plastics.
We now use it to produce the most sustainable sparkling water makers on the market. Let’s hope other manufacturers of household appliances will follow suit!
Recycling
Give your Mysoda products a second life
Recycling products correctly is crucial for keeping our environment clean and protecting the welfare of animals and humans alike. Through recycling you can give your Mysoda products a second life. Thereby we can protect the environment non only during production of our devices and by using them, but also after they have reached the end of their lifespan. It can be confusing to recycle complex products with many different components made from different materials. But trust us when we say it is not all that difficult. Here is how to do it!
Mysoda CO2-cylinders are reusable. Empty cylinders should either be exchanged for filled ones or returned to the nearest retailer. When exchanging an empty cylinder for a full one you only pay the price of the carbon dioxide. Recycle the seal and cap of a new cylinder as plastic waste.
