“This product is the perfect embodiment of good design principles, satisfying on so many levels. It is visually pleasing and useful, environmentally forward-thinking and even trailblazing in its use of woodbased material. In every detail, the Mysoda Woody is a beautifully-designed product. Wow!” says the jury of the competition, in their statement.

The Mysoda Woody sparkling water maker, made of wood-based biocomposite, was launched to the market late last year after a three-year development project. The sparkling water maker is designed by Pentagon Design and the body of the device is made of UPM Formi EcoAce biocomposite, which is produced from by-products and residues of the forestry company UPM’s sawmill and pulp industry. Therefore, no extra trees are harvested to produce the device.

“The iF gold award is a recognition that our vision of making the world’s first sustainable sparkling water makers, was the right one. For three years, we did uncompromising product development with our partners and created a device that is both pleasing to the eye and made of environmentally friendly material.” says David Solomon, CEO of Mysoda.

“There is a strong trend in design from the expansion of human-centered design to planet-centric thinking that strives for holistic sustainable solutions. In all our design, we at Pentagon Design strive for attractive, functional and sustainable solutions that succeed in the international market. We are very proud to have been involved in building Mysoda’s international growth through sustainable design. The iF gold award is a valuable recognition of our good cooperation and its effectiveness.” says Arni Aromaa, Creative Director of Pentagon Design.

Mysoda Woody has been awarded in several design competitions this year, as the device also won the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021 awarded by the German Red Dot GmbH & Co. earlier this year.
