MYSODA SIGNS AGREEMENT TO ACQUIRE LINDE’S HOME CARBONATION OPERATIONS IN THE NORDICS AND BALTICS

Helsinki, April 25th, 2024: Mysoda Oy, the Finnish sparkling water company, and the industrial gas company Linde Gas AB have signed an agreement whereby Mysoda will acquire Linde’s customers and products relating to home carbonation operations in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, and the Baltics. The transaction is subject to certain conditions and is expected to close within the next two months.

Mysoda Group, the Finnish manufacturer of sparkling water makers, will acquire Linde’s Nordic and Baltic customers in the home carbonation sector, in which Linde has been operating under the brands Linde, AGA and Aqvia. The acquisition of Linde’s home carbonation business will solidify Mysoda’s position as one of the biggest players in the home carbonation market in Northern Europe.

Mysoda will be well positioned to continue its role as a forerunner in increasing sustainability in the home carbonation industry. Once the acquisition is complete, Linde’s existing customers will continue to benefit from a supply of high-quality cylinders for sparkling water makers. In addition, they will now gain access to Mysoda’s award-winning range of sparkling water makers and drink mixes. Following the acquisition Linde will continue to fill Mysoda’s cylinders with carbon dioxide, transitioning over time to the use of biogenic gas. Mysoda will become the first in the Nordics and Baltics to provide net-zero biogas for sparkling water makers.

“Since the company’s founding, we have been driving sustainability in the home carbonation sector. Back when Mysoda introduced the Woody sparkling water maker, it was the world’s first wood composite kitchen appliance in an industry purely dominated by machines made of fossil-based plastic. Launching a net zero emission product in the second half of 2024 will equip us with a competitive advantage that nobody in the Nordic market has. We challenge other players to do things better and more responsibly”, says David Solomon, CEO of Mysoda.

Up until now all CO2 cylinders for sparkling water makers on the market have been releasing additional CO2 into the atmosphere, with emissions amounting to approximately 0,7kg to 1kg of CO2 per cylinder. Upon launching cylinders filled with biogenic gas, Mysoda will reduce these emissions to zero. For consumers using such products, biogenic gas reduces their carbon emissions significantly as no gas from fossil sources is released into the atmosphere. By bringing this solution to the Nordic and Baltic market Mysoda helps resellers to further their commitment towards carbon neutrality and allows consumers to take charge of their carbon footprint. The acquisition will have limited effects on existing structures. Linde and Mysoda will work together to minimize the impact on existing customer relationships. The parties have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transaction.
