Mysoda Bio-CO2 cylinders contain pure food-grade CO2. Bio-CO2 is entirely based on renewable resources and extracted from the natural biomass carbon cycle. That means Bio-CO2 does not release extra CO2 into the atmosphere beyond what was previously stored in biomass during plant growth.

Mysoda CO2 cylinders are compatible with sparkling water makers from different manufacturers (except Sodastream models using Quick Connect cylinders).

Where to exchange my empty cylinder?

The classic screw-in mechanism is compatible with all Mysoda sparkling water maker models as well as with sparkling water makers of many other manufacturers like Aarke, Sodapop, Aga, and Sodastream (except Sodastream models using Quick Connect cylinders) that use the same screw-in system.

You can continue to exchange your Mysoda Bio-CO2 cylinders for other screw-in cylinders at any local store that offers an exchange service.

Production

As harmless as bubbles might sound, they can nevertheless tax the planet’s resources. That is why Mysoda Bio-CO2 cylinders contain filtered and purified CO2 from renewable sources. Tapping into the natural cycle of carbon storage in plant matter and release into the atmosphere during plant decay, our Bio-CO2 is 100% renewable-based. Bio-CO2 cylinders are filled in Estonia using wind and solar power. One cylinder makes between 40 and 60 litres of sparkling water, which equals the contents of up to 40 1.5 L single-use plastic bottles. Each cylinder has a lifetime of 40 years, during which it can be exchanged and refilled again and again.

Safety

We ensure the quality and safety of our cylinders by always using only high-quality food-grade carbon dioxide and following the local and EU regulations and our safety process when filling and transporting them.

Our cylinders are regularly inspected by an authorised third party. To guarantee safety usage and storage of CO2 cylinders, each cylinder has a safety valve that will harmlessly release the gas in the unlikely event that the pressure of the cylinder rises above the safe level.

A bio-CO2 cylinder with biogenic CO2 for sparkling water makers in a forest setting

Bio-CO2 is extracted from the natural cycle of carbon being stored in plant matter during plant growth and released again into the atmosphere. Tapping into this process means using Bio-CO2 does not release more CO2 into the atmosphere than already was in circulation. No carbon stored in fossil resources is released. CO2 is just temporarily captured for you to enjoy some delicious fizzy drinks.

Good to know

Where does Bio-CO2 come from?

All this might seem very technical to you, and it is. But don't worry, we have broken the process down for you. Bio-CO2 is extracted as a side stream from a biogenic process like bioethanol production. That means it is extracted from a rather quick natural cycle of carbon storage during plant growth and release into the atmosphere during plant decay. In contrast to traditional methods of extracting CO2, this process does not use fossil resources nor release additional CO2 previously captured in fossil resources into the atmosphere. Previously, CO2 could be sourced more sustainably by making use of sidestrams of e.g. fertilizer production, ultimately making use of waste that is created in other industries regardless. By utilizing advanced technology, it is now possible for us to cut out fossil raw materials, creating a fully renewable-based product: Bio-CO2.

Familiar quality

All Mysoda CO2 cylinders contain high-quality, purified, food-grade carbon dioxide. When switching to Bio-CO2 you can enjoy the same level of quality - just sourced differently. Your carbonated drinks stay just as fizzy and delicious as ever.

From the natural carbon cycle

Bio-CO2 is extracted from the natural cycle of carbon being stored in plant matter during plant growth and released again into the atmosphere. Tapping into this process means using Bio-CO2 does not release more CO2 into the atmosphere than already was in circulation. No carbon stored in fossil resources is released. CO2 is just temporarily captured for you to enjoy some delicious fizzy drinks.

Compatible with all Mysoda devices

While we are switching to a different gas product, the cylinders holding the gas remain exactly the same.

You can continue to exchange your Mysoda Bio-Co2 cylinders at any local store carrying screw-in cylinders.

Filled using renewable energy

For filling our CO2 cylinders we use 100% renewable energy. This applies to both our own filling plants as well as our partners' filling operations. For parts of our supply chain, transportation with renewable fuels has also been implemented and remaining transport emissions are compensated.
