The Smarter Way to Flavour Water
Mysoda Wellness Water offers a new alternative to traditional soft drink concentrates, which are commonly used to flavour homemade carbonated water.
“The idea behind the innovation was to reduce unnecessary water transport. Wellness Water contains only flavour, vitamins, and minerals—which are mixed with your own tap water. Thanks to this, a 12-pack of Wellness Water weighs only 85 grams, while a comparable bottle of liquid drink concentrate weighs about 500 grams. The weight you have to carry is therefore about 80% less,” says Mysoda CEO David Solomon.
From the very beginning, Mysoda’s operations have been driven by the goal of developing more sustainable alternatives for the beverage market. The company introduced the first biogenic carbon dioxide for making sparkling water and began manufacturing sparkling water makers from renewable wood composite made primarily from Nordic wood. Wellness Water continues this approach by reducing the amount of water that needs to be transported compared to traditional liquid drink concentrates.
Wellness Made Easy - from Your Own Tap
The new product offers an easy way to make a lightly flavoured, sugar-free drink enriched with vitamins and minerals from tap water. At the same time, it reduces the need to buy and carry pre-bottled drinks from the store to your home. It’s a long-lasting product, as one Wellness Water package contains 12 single-serve sticks, each of which makes 700–900 millilitres of ready drink.
“Consumers are increasingly prioritizing sugar-free options, great taste, and benefits that support their daily lives when choosing beverages. Wellness Water meets this need by combining a sugar-free drink with the added benefits of vitamins and minerals in a convenient format that can be enjoyed anywhere, anytime,” says Product Manager Carita Lampainen.
At launch, the Mysoda Wellness Water line includes five flavour options and vitamin combinations, each designed to support daily well-being:
Flow: Raspberry-Lemon (thiamine + selenium)
Immunity: Lemon (vitamin D + zinc)
Focus: Mango-Yuzu (vitamin C + vitamin B12)
Reload: Peach (riboflavin + niacin)
Shine: Cranberry-Blackberry (biotin + zinc)
Wellness Water is designed to combine fresh and intriguing flavours with current wellness trends. The flavours are a blend of emerging flavour trends and established favourites with a subtle, modern twist.
The result of years of product development
Developing a functional product required several years of research and development. It was particularly challenging to create drink granules that dissolves quickly in both still and sparkling water without affecting the drink’s texture or fizziness—and without causing it to foam out of the bottle.
“The actual development work began in 2022, but it took about three years to develop the final product family. The biggest challenges were related to the product’s taste, solubility, and industrial manufacturability. It speaks volumes about the precision of our work that along the way we tested over 30 flavour and recipe options, as well as numerous versions involving different sweeteners, vitamins, and production methods,” Lampainen explains.
The end result are drink granules that dissolve seamlessly in both still and sparkling water without causing it to fizz, while preserving the drink’s freshness and bubbles.
Drink powders are also in high demand abroad
Wellness Water represents an important step for Mysoda as the company expands its operations from sparkling water makers to other beverage solutions. The product combines the company’s sustainability goals, consumer insight, and long-term product development into a new product category.
“Wellness Water has been well received both in Finland and internationally. The product is appealing because it combines three trends: sugar-free functional drinks, at-home preparation, and a more convenient way to carry drinks compared to bottled ready-to-drink options. Wellness Water also supports Mysoda’s long-term strategy by combining sustainability, Nordic design, and locally produced beverages,” Solomon summarizes.
Mysoda Wellness Water is currently available at Prisma and Tokmanni stores in Finland. Distribution will expand gradually in both Finland and international markets.
“Wellness Water has generated significant interest among both consumers and retailers across Europe. Over the summer, we will be launching this new product with several major retailers in Sweden, France, and Belgium, among other countries,” says Commercial Director Jussi Aura.
